KOSHA: Adding Value to the Many Dimensions of Your Organization

The word kosha means a sheath, a layer.

Every organization, just like a human being, is much more than what meets the eyes; and, each organization, like a human being again, has its own multi-layered personality. Each layer has its own significance and grandeur.

The physical layer itself, representing an Organization’s infrastructure, is precious and of great value just like the limbs and organs of a human being.

The energy layer is the signature of the organization’s life, consisting of its drive, enthusiasm and motivation. It resembles breathing, blood circulation and other critical functions in a human body.

The layer of emotions brings charm to the organization, shaping joys and sorrows, celebrations and frustrations. Bonding, team spirit and commitment to shared vision mark this layer.

The intellectual layer is the organization’s inner worth, encompassing the seat of knowledge, decisions, values and judgments. All assessment of right and wrong are contained in this.

The bliss sheath is where the organization experiences deep joy in the quietude of undifferentiated thoughts, in its sweet ‘success’ as defined by the organization!

Hidden within these five sheaths (koshas) is the truth of an organization’s existence, the Core Value, the real essence of the organization.

Kosha GroupSM helps you to walk through these five sheaths, to draw the best of each of them and to realize the true value of your organization.

(our gratitude to Swami Chidananda for this definition of Kosha)
